What is Love?

Love isn’t buying big gifts; gold, diamonds, electronics or cars. Love isn’t expensive meals and outlandish vacations. It doesn’t manifest itself in silk or fine tailoring. It isn’t found in public displays of affection. None of those things are love.

  1. Love is the elderly husband that still cares for his ailing wife. How he brushes her hair and dresses her just so.
  2. Love is the mother that gives up her food at the restaurant because her child has ordered something, and now doesn’t like it.
  3. Love is the brother that says “I’m sorry”.
  4. Love is the parent that disciplines their child, not out of anger, but because they want him to grow up to be a good person.
  5. Love is the friend that holds your hand through that really hard time.
  6. Love is the woman that makes her man’s favorite meal, just because he loves it.
  7. Love is the man that drives all over town looking for the peppermint tea his pregnant wife loves so much.
  8. Love is the child that tells you you are beautiful because of who you are on the inside.
  9. Love is the man that rescues the dog, or vice versa.
  10. Love is the one that listens.

SCOTTIES Tissue

This morning I was telling my husband that I am nothing but a big softie. I can cry at the drop of a hat, especially if something really touches my heart. I was reading an article about an autistic boy who had been lost in Virginia. There was a huge search for him, and eventually a lone man, going against the crowd, found him in a quarry. The man refuses to take credit and says it was the work of God. Thank goodness we had a box of SCOTTIES Tissues around, because I was certainly crying by the end of that story.

I don’t know if you are aware but SCOTTIES Tissues are made in the USA. That is really important to me. I like supporting North American companies that support American workers. SCOTTIES has a Tree Planting Promise that says “We plant three trees for every one we use to produce SCOTTIES products.” I wish more companies made such promises.

Those SCOTTIES Tissues come in handy for all sorts of situations, not just a big cry. Of course they are handy when you have a cold. And my son gets tons of nose bleeds when the weather changes, so we use a lot of them. I know some women that use them to blot their makeup. SCOTTIES Tissues are also useful in removing makeup and blotting lipstick. My husband even used one recently to help him get a good grip on one of Matthew’s loose teeth and ease it out.

I love our SCOTTIES Tissues and use them daily. But if you need another reason to love SCOTTIES then check out their Trees Rock video contest. Apparently the contest is now closed, but you can come back and vote for the finalists!  See the link above for official rules on how to enter, vote and a list of prizes.

I was provided with complimentary samples of SCOTTIES Tissues in an effort to give you an unbiased review of the product.

Shari’s Berries Review

My mom has been famous in our family for making chocolate covered strawberries and bringing them to family get-togethers. So when I had the chance to try Shari’s Berries I was really excited. It would remind me of our family gatherings. I love a beautiful, ripe strawberry delicately wrapped in delicious chocolate. Fruit and chocolate make the best desserts and treats.

I ordered the Cheesecake Trio and Full Dozen Fresh Dipped Swizzle Strawberries from Shari’s Berries. The package came right on the scheduled due date in a well iced box. The strawberries themselves arrived looking beautiful in their package and were ready to devour.  I think the box would have looked lovely on a buffet. I decided to try a white chocolate covered strawberry and took a my first nibble. It was perfect. The strawberry was sweet, red and ripe and the white chocolate was smooth, creamy and delicate. I actually had to stop myself from grabbing one or two more. But really at around 120 calories per berry they aren’t that bad for me. Of course for me to really give you a proper review I had to at least try one of the chocolate covered berries too. It was just as decadent and satisfying.

I haven’t opened the cheesecake trio as I’m saving them for an upcoming party, but if the strawberries are any indication then I think the cheesecake will be a hit too. Shari’s Berries would make a great gift for the person who has everything. I love the idea of sending some chocolate dipped strawberries and cherries to my parents, who never want anything for Christmas. At least they could eat these and enjoy them, and not have anything left to take up space or clutter their home with another nick-knack.

Shari’s Berries offers coupon codes to make it even easier to send holiday cheer.

I was given the chance to review a complimentary product from Berries.com.
