Love isn’t buying big gifts; gold, diamonds, electronics or cars. Love isn’t expensive meals and outlandish vacations. It doesn’t manifest itself in silk or fine tailoring. It isn’t found in public displays of affection. None of those things are love.
- Love is the elderly husband that still cares for his ailing wife. How he brushes her hair and dresses her just so.
- Love is the mother that gives up her food at the restaurant because her child has ordered something, and now doesn’t like it.
- Love is the brother that says “I’m sorry”.
- Love is the parent that disciplines their child, not out of anger, but because they want him to grow up to be a good person.
- Love is the friend that holds your hand through that really hard time.
- Love is the woman that makes her man’s favorite meal, just because he loves it.
- Love is the man that drives all over town looking for the peppermint tea his pregnant wife loves so much.
- Love is the child that tells you you are beautiful because of who you are on the inside.
- Love is the man that rescues the dog, or vice versa.
- Love is the one that listens.
I really love what you wrote here! I think a lot of people have forgotten this. You are totally right on the money! I hope this post goes viral! We all need this reminder!

Thanks Michelle, Almost everyone of those things has happened in my family and they remind me of what it means to love daily.
All of these are so true. I hate it cuz I am always starving (lol) but I am always giving up my own food for my kids.

Love is not a feeling. Love is action, as your examples so beautifully show.

This is awesome Maryann. You know I have heard that saying about “Children spell love t-i-m-e” but I think really everyone does – not just children. Every relationship worth having is deserving of your time. Great post to start my day with!
