Going Grey Update with a New Grey Haircut

grey haircut

I’ve successfully been grey for several months now and have really been enjoying it. But as my 44th birthday is approaching I have been starting to feel my age and more importantly I have been thinking about regrets. I don’t want to have regrets over anything as I age. I used to spend a lot of time doing and being what other people wanted me to be. And somehow I sort of forgot what I wanted to be. I started to realize that I only have this one shot at life and I should live it and love it and in general have no regrets. (Of course there are limits, I have to follow social rules and laws and such, but I don’t have to worry about what others think or want from me outside of my responsibilities.) So I opted for a haircut that I think it really cool, and very outside the norm for a mom of 3 living in the suburbs, and whom is also the PTA President of her children’s elementary school! Take a peek at the cut and let me know what you think.

Ouidad #1 in my list of Favorite Things

Ouidad

Taking a cue from Oprah’s holiday list of her favorite things, I thought I’d start a similar list. I’m hoping to give you ideas for things you may want to try, for things you never thought about trying, and maybe some insight into things EVERYONE has tried.

The very first item I wanted to introduce you to is my favorite, go-to hair care collection by Ouidad. Ouidad is known for their curl defining products. As the owner of 2B curly/wavy hair (the 2B is a reference to my curl patter as defined in The Curly Girl M

ethod) I have sought out those products that help define my wave pattern and keep my curls moisturized and shiny. Curly hair is often dry, simply because of the way hair is when it is curly. It has to do with the cuticle and the curl pattern, but really all you need to know is that curly hair needs special care. And for me one of the best ways to care for my hair is with Ouidad.

I am part

icularly fond of Ouidad’s shampoo and conditioners. I usually use Ouidad Curl Quencher Moisturizing Shampoo, but recently Ouidad has launched the new Ouidad Color Sense Collection which not only helps define your curls but also helps prevent against fading if you color your hair.

Ouidad is fantastic at locking in moisture which has helped keep my hair soft. The Color Sense Color Preserving Conditioner is Sulfate and Silicone Free which is important not only to me as a consumer, but also as someone that follows The Curly Girl M

I think the other thing I really love about Ouidad is that it really is a collection of great curl enhancing products that all work together to help you create the sort of curls you want. Ouidad Curl Defining Styling Souffle is now one of my new favorite curling creams. I often use a curl enhancing cream after washing and conditioning my hair. The Ouidad Curl Defining Styling Souffle helps set the curls, reduces frizz (which I hate having), and promotes shine. My hair is very soft when I use the Ouidad Curl Defining Styling Souffle.  And as a little side note on the Ouidad Curl Defining Styling Souffle it SMELLS fantastic and has the most enjoyable texture. I really can’t describe it, but I guess the name Souffle gives you a good clue. It is simply delightful to use.ethod. Those ingredients are big no-nos.

So I hope you check out Ouidad and let me know if you think it is a great product for your curly or wavy hair. Check back soon for #2 in my list of favorite things!

Ouidad PlayCurl Shampoo Conditioner and Mousse Review

Disclosure: I was provided with free bottles of the Ouidad PlayCurl Shampoo, Condition and Mousse to have facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.

ouidad playcurl

I have wavy hair. I wish I had Kerri Russel curls, but I wasn’t born with them. I’ve always had waves, lots and lots of waves. When I was younger I hated those waves. I wanted the straight hair my friends had. They could have Farrah Faucet wings, and I couldn’t.

But as I got older and I started to realize that my hair was actually really beautiful, and I began to play up those waves. I started to realize that I had really gorgeous  hair that had a lovely curl patter that many, many women wanted. I was told more than once that women pay good money to have my curls put in their hair. That is where Ouidad PlayCurl comes in. Ouidad is one of the foremost curl enhancing product lines on the market. I started getting acquainted with Ouidad a few years ago when I decided I wanted to show off my natural hair and I decided to try the curly girl method. Ouidad PlayCurl is perfect for the curly girl method.

PlayCurl is perfect for wavy hair like mine. Since I don’t have the great curl structure that true curly hair has, my hair can lose it definition easily if I use products that are heavy or weigh my hair down. I started using PlayCurl Shampoo and Conditioner a few days ago. They are perfect for keeping my waves moisturized while providing a refreshing cleanse without being to heavy. I added the PlayCurl Mousse for a soft definition and curl hold.

I have really fallen in love with Ouidad PlayCurl products and can’t wait to try the Ouidad Sea Spray and Texture Taffy. I was on the Ouidad website and loved playing around with the different links. Under the Shop Products link you can search my Curl Type and Concern among other options. This was great for me since I can easily find the perfect match without searching through tons of product description.

Which Ouidad PlayCurl product are you ready to try?
