E.T. Movie On DVD

The E.T. movie has been released on Blu-Ray DVD! Do you remember watching E.T. for the first time? I do. I remember crying my eyes out over that adorable little extra-terrestrial. What a fantastic movie! I know E.T. lived on in my heart for a very long time. I still recall my friends and I touching fingers just like E.T. and Elliot would. How we would mimic E.T. saying “Ell-i-ot”. And I will never look at a group of stuffed animals the same way again. What about the beer drinking scene? Oh, the memories this movie brings back. I’m so glad that it has been re-released on Blu-Ray so my children can experience the magic of “E.T. Phone home”. E.T. is truly an American Classic movie.

The new Anniversary Edition (it has been 30 years!!) contains not only the original movie in perfect Hi-Def picture and all-new 7.1 audio, but all-new bonus features including Steven Spielberg & E.T. where the director reflects on his experience making E.T. , the E.T. Journals, Deleted Scenes, the Evolution and Creation of E.T., the Music of E.T. and more.

Along with the DVD I received an E.T. figurine which I plan to keep next to my computer to remind me about my own heartlight. The DVD is available starting October 9, 2012. I hope your family enjoys the love of Elliot, Gertie and E.T. as much as my family does.

In exchange for this review I was provided with a complimentary copy of the DVD and a figurine. All opinions are my own.

Dixie Stampede

While in Pigeon Forge the bloggers of Brandcation had a chance to see the Dixie Stampede. This was my first big Dinner Attraction and I was very excited to see it. Before the show we were treated to an enjoyable mixed drink concoction (non-alcoholic of course) served to us in a souvenir  boot shaped mug, while we listed to some uplifting Southern mountain music. The band encouraged you to sing along, and I certainly did. I looked around the large room and was pleasantly surprised to see people of all ages singing those well known songs. It really added to the festive spirit of the night.

Once inside the arena we were treated to a yummy dinner, that you eat with your hands! My favorite part was a very well roasted chicken. We enjoyed our dinner while cheering for the riders in the arena. There were serious equestrian stunts, audience participation (kids chasing chickens – who can resist?), piglet races and miniature ponies. I think the evening is completely enjoyable for everyone in the family, young and old, and I would recommend going if you are in Pigeon Forge.

You can connect with Dixie Stampede on Facebook and Twitter to get up to the date information on the show.

I was provided with a free ticket to Dixie Stampede, all opinions are my own.

Lumberjack Feud Pigeon Forge

I don’t think I have ever yelled so much in my entire life as I did while watching the Lumberjack Feud in Pigeon Forge. This place is crazy fun. When all 34 of us bloggers arrived at the Lumberjack Feud we were totally excited to see some lumberjacks do their stuff, but I don’t think any of us really knew what to expect. We were in for a pleasant (and not unattractive) surprise!

We were seated on the Dawson side of the arena and were introduced to our lumberjack family. And then the yelling began. We cheered for our lumberjacks, our dogs and our audience participation contestants.  We jeered at the other family, their lumberjacks, their dogs and their audience participation contestants. It was quite loud and a ton of fun.

During the Lumberjack Feud Ranger Black keeps an eye on the teams and helps move the story along. He acts as judge over the contestants and I have to say, there were a few times I didn’t agree with Ranger Black’s decisions, but ultimately truth prevailed and the Dawson clan won! As it should be.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show, even if it was the reason I lost my voice, and the food was great too. I loved the ribs and the mac and cheese. The staff was friendly and encouraging but not intrusive. I wanted a lumberjack cookie, but never got one. When you go, see if you can get one. Having a cute kid with you makes it a bit easier. I loved the adorable Lumberjack Feud souvenirs they had in their shop, including the cute T-shirts they have for the kids. There were a ton of people celebrating all sorts of life events such as birthdays and wedding anniversary. One man even got up on stage and proposed to his wife all over again (PS – She said “yes”).

Lumberjack Feud is a whole lot of fun in an easy setting. I thing it would be a great place to take the whole family. We even saw a few sleeping babies there – but I have no idea how they slept through the chainsaw events.

Lumberjack Feud was a complimentary show as part of my Brandcation package. All opinions are my own.

Cabin Fever Vacations Smokey Mountains

This is the view I got to see every morning I was in Pigeon Forge while attending #Brandcation. I always considered myself to be an ocean girl who married a mountain boy, but after spending 3 nights in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee in this Cabin Fever Vacations luxury cabin I may have been converted. Truly this is an amazing set of cabins way up in the Smokies. And smokey they were, our last morning there, each mountain top was tipped in the fog and clouds that give the Smokey Mountains their name. It really was a breath taking view – and an extreme ride up the mountain side to our cabin. We had a lot of fun on that winding road.

Our cabin was big enough to sleep all 34 bloggers attending #Brandcation. There were 8 bedrooms, 3 large bunk beds, and several futons. The cabin came equipped with a hot tub, pool table, Pac Man machine, plus 2 refrigerators! (This came in handy with 34 people around.) Although we didn’t spend a ton of time there, because we were out having a great time in Pigeon Forge, we did get great use out of our cabin. We congregated for morning and before bed announcements, the all important (and sometimes life saving) morning coffee, and our enormously fun 80’s Party where I dressed up like the punk rocker I was in college. Sshh, yes I am THAT old.

“Cabin Fever Vacations offers over 200 economy to luxury Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg cabins for guests vising the Smokies. Secluded honeymoon cabins with romantic mountain views, family reunion cabins, and log cabin resorts with swimming pools.”

I loved the areas so much (and some of the other exciting things I’m going to tell you about in later posts) that I was thinking our extended family may wish to join us in Pigeon Forge for our summer vacation. I will be checking with Cabin Fever Vacations to find the right Pigeon Forge cabin for our stay.

Connect with Cabin Fever Vacations on their website, through Facebook or on Twitter.
