EOS Lip Balm Review

For years I have battled with dry lips. I think it is because of my asthma, which means I’m a bit of a mouth breather, which leaves me with dry, chapped, cracked lips. I have found that if I keep them covered in a good lip balm I don’t seem to suffer as much, but I’ve really had a hard time finding a lip balm that wasn’t made with synthetic junk such as petrolatum and paraben. Who wants to use that on their lips, where you are sure to ingest it? Yuck, not me.

Then I found EOS, which is an USDA certified organic lip balm and a very cool lip balm indeed. They carry two different styles of balms; those in a smooth sphere which looks a bit like a small Easter egg and those in a more traditional stick. I got to try the Summer Fruit Lip Balm Smooth Sphere and the Sweet Mint Lip Balm Smooth Stick. As soon as I took them out of the packaging, both Matthew and Nico came running. They have a bit of a lip balm addiction and love to try whatever lip balm I’m using. They have been known to get into my makeup drawer, looking for lip balm, and wound up getting into my tinted lip balms. With EOS I don’t have to worry. First, they aren’t colored, so the boys don’t look like mommy is taking them to a Rave. Instead they are made with good products like organic jojoba oil, organic shea butter, organic coconut oil, organic beeswax, organic Stevia extract and vitamin E. Secondly, they are available in some very cool and contemporary flavors/scents. The spheres come in honeysuckle honeydew, summer fruit and sweet mint. I tried the summer fruit which is made with blueberry, strawberry and peach fruit extracts, all of which are organic. Nico really likes this one. It smells like a summer fruit salad. I often find him holding the two halves of the sphere while he covers his lips in the balm. The sticks come in vanilla bean, pomegranate raspberry and sweet mint. I also had the chance to try the sweet mint, which is a sweet peppermint stick. What I really like about both of these is the fact that they don’t taste fake and overbearing. I dislike many of the mainstream lip balms because the flavors are synthetic and taste like chemicals. Not EOS Lip Balms. And because they don’t come in a more traditional lip balm pot, they are very hygienic. You can carry them anywhere and use them without the worry of clean hands, because unlike the lip balm pots, with EOS your are not using your finger to apply the lip balm.

EOS is available at www.drugstore.com, www.evolutionofsmooth.com, select Target stores (August/September), Walgreens (July), Duane Reade (August/September), Rite Aid (July) and Space NK. And one of the coolest aspects of these organic lip balms is the fact that they are Made in the USA!!!

I love my EOS and I really think you will like them too. I would love to hear what you have to say about EOS once you try it. Remember to stop back and leave me a comment.

My boys love, love, love fruit. I never really have to worry about them eating it. But you can’t always take fruit with you, especially when you are sending fruit with a toddler or preschooler. I have had to send snacks into school for Matthew because of his GFCF dietary restrictions, and because of his love of fruit I would love to send that with him. But the need to wash and clean the fruit, then store it in a container that he could open and eat from can be tricking, especially if they are taking a field trip. The fruit can start to discolor, or with the case of berries and other soft fruits, they can start to disintegrate and become unpalatable.

Recently I was introduced to Peter Rabbit Organics. They sent me a 6-pack of their organic fruit pouches. At the time I had my niece and nephew in the house so I got to try these out on more than just my children. The Apple and Grape pouch was a big hit with both my boys, especially Matthew. Nico seemed to like the Mango, Banana and Orange, while my niece seemed to enjoy the Strawberry and Banana.

One amazing thing about these fruit pouches is the fact that they are simply pureed fruit, there is nothing else in the pouch, which I think is great. The kids can have a wholesome snack at home or on the go and I know we are giving them organic fruit without any preservatives or artificial colors and flavors, like so many other kid-marketed snacks. Another cool aspect of Peter Rabbit Fruit Pouches is the fact that they are re-sealable and they have choke-free caps, and the unopened pouches don’t need to be refrigerated.

I really prefer these fruit pouches to so many of the other snack products on the market. Really, what is better than an all-fruit snack? There are no gelatins, genetically modified food starches, preservatives or added chemicals.
