My Brother-in-law and his family are here visiting for Nico’s second birthday and whenever they are here my Sister-in-law and I try to get a ‘spa’ day in. This year we are going for pedicures, and a few other treats, at our favorite day spa (The Pearl Spa). We both really enjoy getting pedicures and they give great ones, they take about an hour and they also give you a mini leg massage. The bad part is that my niece, who is 4, gets a little sad that she can’t get a pedicure too. But this year we have that problem solved!

Recently I received a bottle of Piggy Paint “Natural as Mud” nail polish and nail polish remover. It is water based, non-toxic, non-flammable and odorless. And as you all know, I love an American Made product and Piggy Paint is proudly made in the USA! And how fantastic is this? It is free of formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone. The remover is also non-toxic and safe to use. They sent me “Tea Party for Two” which was perfect because when I decided to try the polish out, both boys wanted me to do their toes too! I didn’t mind doing so because it is a dark blue metallic color and totally safe to use on my precious boys. Not sure Grandpa (or Daddy for that matter) really liked the idea of boys with blue toes, but the kids loved it. And as soon as my niece saw the color she wanted her toenails painted too. We are currently a house full of blue toes!

Bourbon Geranium Soy Candle Giveaway

AND THE WINNER IS 110 QUELLEHEURE

I was cruising around the internet looking for a really nice candle to use in the house when I happened upon Hothouse Botanicals. There I found beautiful soy candles, but I also found bath salts, sugar scrubs and lip balms among other fantastic products!

I was drawn to Hothouse Botanicals because of how they make their products. They are all made with pure natural essential oils – natural aromatherapy for the user! There are no synthetic fragrance or color, which it so important when following a biomedical protocol. Hothouse Botanicals contain NO Parabens, NO SLS, and are “dirty dozen free”; something we need to consider not only for our autistic children but for our own health and the health of the planet in general. Hothouse Botnicals is thinking globally, one person at a time. The products are also 100% Vegan friendly and cruelty-free. While I’m not vegan myself, I am starting to really appreciate some of the pricipals set forth by a vegan lifestyle so I’m happy to use a company that is cruelty-free and vegan friendly. And I love, love, love the fact that they use recycled glass containers for their soy candles.

Stephanie, the President of Hothouse Botanicals, was nice enough to send me one of their Bourbon Geranium Aromatherapy Soy Candles and their Lavandin/Litsea Cubeba Bath Salts. I burned the candle as soon as I got it. It has a soft rosy-minty scent that is perfect for the spring and summer. I could really see using it during an evening dinner party on your patio, the candle and the fireflies providing just the right lighting while your guests enjoy a glass of chilled white wine. It would set the mood quite nicely. But I have been enjoying it daily since it has arrived, right in the kitchen and family room area. With two little boys, summer dinner parties are just a fantasy of mine.

I guess that is where the Lavandin/Litsea Cubeba Bath Salts come in. It has a delicate lavender lemon aroma that could help calm and sooth. I used it with the boys in their nighttime bath. Normally we use an Epsom salt bath to help detoxification but that isn’t the most relaxing for the boys. I was thrilled when I read ” A salt water bath can stimulate circulation, increase moisture retention, hydrate skin, detoxify the skin and promote cellular regeneration.” The boys slept beautifully. Now I want to try it myself so I can detox and relax too.

Want any of these products right now? Head over to Hothouse Botanicals and pick some up for yourself.
