This is NOT a sponsored post, I bought the Sally Hansen Salon Effects myself.
For some reason I decided I wanted to start painting my nails again. Many of my friends have been doing really cool things with their nails, but I wasn’t that interested in working so hard to achieve a cool effect. As I was walking through Target and Wegmans I decided to check out the nail polish aisle and I found these Sally Hanson Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips. They come in some exciting designs and were fairly inexpensive so I decided to try them out.
To be honest the fist box I tried didn’t seem to work so well. I don’t know if I was using them incorrectly or if the box was old and they were defective. But I decided to look for a tutorial on You Tube and sure enough found one. It showed exactly how to use them and the next box I tried was simple. I felt that maybe, as a 43 year old woman, having a full set of Whoopsy Daisy nails might be a bit much, so I opted to use the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips on one finger per hand. I then painted my other nails a complimentary color. I like that look and have done it several times since the first try.
I have also gotten Heart Breaker, Love Letter (the one I had trouble with), and Tattoo Much. They have lasted really well and come off easily with regular nail polish remover.
I found the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips to be easy to use, they provide a cute look, are easy to remove and last. I will certainly use them again.
Tutorial
- Start with clean, dry nails.
- Shape your nails with the enclosed nail file.
- Select the correct size of the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips.
- Remove the clean protective cover from the front of the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips.
- Remove the back white cover from the strips revealing the slightly sticky back.
- Place the sticky back on the nail and press down.
- Trim around nail bed, with the orange stick if necessary.
- Fold end of strip over end of nail.
- Using the nail file, gently remove excess strip.
- Cover with clear nail polish if desired.
I’ve never tried the strips, honestly I rarely even polish my nails, but I think I might give ’em a try. Your nails looks so pretty!

I LOVE these. I’ve tried other brands, and I always end up going back to the Sally Hansen ones because I find they’re easiest to apply and they last a good 2 to 3 weeks on my nails.

I bought some of these because I was curious how long they would last as compared to the Jamberry nails. I haven’t tried them yet but plan to soon. They sure are cute on your fingers!

Cute! Glad you like them. I’m wearing Jamberrys right now. They are similar but fuse to the nail with the help of a hairdryer.

I never paint my finger nails, but always my toes. Well, I bought some Sally Hansen strips in a spiffy leopard pattern. They looked good and lasted well. I was happy as a clam… then I bought them again, and put them on the same way. They rubbed off right away.
I’m thinking the batches are inconsistent, and your 1st try was just a bad batch.

Those look cute. Unfortunately for me, I really cannot wear them to work. It’s not a good thing to have “painted” nails in the healthcare industry.

These look very simple to apply, which is a plus for me! I don’t like painting my nails because it always ends in disaster so this looks mess -free and easy so I’ll definite;y be giving these a try!
Thanks for the tutorial. Knowing me, I’d waste several boxes just to get one nail right!

My daughter uses them. She likes the cheetah prints!
This is right up my ally. I can not paint myself without making a mess everywhere and this is the perfect solution.
I’ve never tried the strips but they look great!

So, they don’t chip at all? I may have to do those — I love the look of painted nails but I’m so rough on my hands.

I’ve used these & love them! I agree about the patterns being too much for the whole hand so I just do the solid colored glitter ones.
