Wordless Wednesday Egg Floating in Water

0 Flares Filament.io 0 Flares ×

Last week when the boys had a snow day off from school we decided to do a few science experiments with things I had around the house. This is the results of Egg Floating in Water – it was achieved by using a lot of salt to increase the density of the water and allow the egg to float suspended in the middle of the glass. I thought it was pretty cool.

  1. If it sinks, doesn’t it mean that the egg isn’t fresh anymore?

    • Maryann says:

no, an egg that sinks is fresh, but in this case I made a FRESH egg NOT sink. I used salt to increase the water density and make the egg float in the middle of the cup by adding fresh water to the top of the salty water. The egg dropped through the fresh water and stayed suspended in the salt water.

  2. What an awesome shot Maryann!
