We even have it in the medical community, specifically it is found in vaccines and Dental Fillings! Rachel it is very serious and having them removed can stir up the mercury and cause mercury exposure that needs to be alleviated. I am going through the process of removing them and it is very long and hard on the body.

What interesting facts. Although my kids are all cavity free (YAY!) I know that their pediatric dentist uses only white fillings, even on back teeth. By the way, your new look is gorgeous!!

I think my old fillings are mercury. But one of them had fallen out and I got new ones in 2 weeks ago… and they aren’t shiny at all so I think the new ones aren’t.

if they are white then they are composites but if they are grey, or silver they are amalgams and made from mercury.
Holy moly! That’s an interesting infographic! I don’t have any idea if any of my fillings are mercury, but I don’t think they are.

Marina, this is very serious. The WHO has taken on banning mercury in fillings but the US still uses them. They know it is one of the most dangerous substances but it is still allowed in our dental procedures. My son with autism has extremely high levels of mercury in his body.
Sigh.. now I have a reason to dislike the dentist more.. I wish they’d stop using those fillings.. BTW LOVEEE the new look

Yikes! I hate those dark fillings that are in my teeth. I hate, too, that mercury is in those new “environmentally friendly” light bulbs. (Not many seem to know that you should not place them in the regular garbage – they need to be disposed of differently because of the mercury content.)

Thanks for sharing. I know the mercury fillings are not good, but some of mine are so deep setted I cannot imagine having them taken out. The fillings today barely last a year or two, at least that’s been the case with one of the ones I have in my molar…..I am currently missing the filling though.

Makes ya scratch their head. WHY Are they still using it if its harmful UUUGH. My dentist actually has started switching out old fillings for me because of this.

Most of my fillings have been replaced recently, so my mercury load should be gone by now. I hope, anyway. My children don’t have any fillings but my oldest is having six next week. I will make sure we use only safe materials because now, I’m panicking!

I had all of my fillings (but one) replaced because of this. I was starting to have tremors and muscle twitches all over (had this everyday for about 2 years). After endless trips to the doctor, I decided to do a little research and finally found the culprit, but it took awhile before my body returned back to normal. I also learned that mercury poisoning can cause autoimmune diseases such as ASL or Multiple Sclerosis, which probably would have led to this.

We recently switched to LED bulbs throughout most of the house. I’m so glad to not use mercury bulbs anymore!
