
We have an Elf on the Shelf, like so many other families. And I have been seeing a ton of searches to find out how to name your Elf on the Shelf. So it got me thinking, what if an Autism Recovery Mom had to name her Elf on the Shelf, just what would she name him?

Penelope you aren’t dense it is just that you guys don’t deal with autism and autism recovery. Pi is referring to the fact that often our kids have hyperlexia and they can memorize numbers or letters but can’t talk to us or express themselves in other ways. The things like MB12 – it is Methyl B 12 the vitamin and we often give our kids MB12 shots. Coconut oil is so good for you and we use it often. Mark Blaxill is one of our Heroes. HHV6 is a virus that a lot of our kids have and Yeast Beast refers to the yeast overgrowth that many kids can get. I’m sure you get Coffeeee and some of the other more “mom” type ones!
Some I get, some I don’t. I can tell some are in jest and some are like holy crap serious. I don’t get the Elf on the Shelf thing, I see it around every year lol.

I don’t think you are silly at all. It just says to me that your family doesn’t do biomedical interventions for autism or aspergers. We do a lot of medical things to improve our son’s ability to function and that is what many of these refer to.

I don’t have an autistic child, but I was a teacher and had autistic students, so I can understand a post like this! Our Elf’s name is Riley.. she came with a name so it took the guesswork out!

Great post! We named ours Peppermint and tonight my son asked me if he had a Mom. I said ofcoursehedid, and then was asked what was her name. I said Candy Cane.
I think that was smart thinking. of course when I hear the name Candy Cane I always remember that really bad horror movie Joy Ride.
# 5 cracked me up! My son is too old, but I hate that I never did the elf on the shelf when he was younger.
